In 1986-87 Eilat Mazar excavated together with her grandfather prof. Benjamin Mazar at the Ophel (the biblical acropolis of Initial Temple Period of time Jerusalem), on behalf of the Institute of Archaeology of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The outcomes from their excavations are printed in Qedem 29 (1989).
